Life After the Derecho (140 mph Wind Storm)
Hi Friends, I hope you all had a great Christmas. I know that sharing a post about a natural disaster that happened in August, at the end of December, isn't really a way to fill you with holiday cheer, but this post has been swirling around in my head since we started to get back on our feet after the Derecho. It wasn't really the right time before. We were in the thick of dealing with our insurance company. I knew that if I shared anything then that it would just come off as me … [Read more...]
There’s a Luna-tic in the Tree!!!!
Oh hey friends, it's been a while since I wrote about anything other than food. Also, the last time I did an update on Luna was in August...it's about time. So much has happened. Where to even begin? First, Luna keeps on growing. I'm not sure when the picture below was taken but she is smaller in that picture than in real life present moment. Wanna see how little she was when we got her last May?! Scroll through this post! Paul and I don't notice the growing as much as we did when she was tiny … [Read more...]
“Luna, You’re Getting So Big!”
Happy Monday everyone! I think Mondays require a lot of cute kitten photos. Don't you agree? In June you met Luna when she was still so tiny. Now it's time for you to see how she has been growing - I tried to keep these pictures in sequential order so you can feel that universal feeling every parent has of "they grow up so fast". I feel the need to inform you that I take these photos of Luna with my camera phone, that's why the quality isn't on par with my food photos. Things happen so fast, … [Read more...]
Meet Luna
Today is the best Friday EVER!! Today you get to meet Luna. Ready?! When we got Luna when she was 6 weeks old which is the earliest a kitten can leave their mom, now she is 10 weeks old - we have had her for an entire month! How in the world … [Read more...]
We Saw a Bear in Arizona!
Yes, we really did see a bear in Arizona! Before you go scrolling through the pictures I think it's a fair warning that there aren't any photos of a bear - it all happened so fast! BUT it has been my life goal to see a bear in the wild. From a distance, in a non-scary, non-life threatening situation. It finally happened!!! Okay technically all I saw was a bear butt. We were driving on a middle-of-nowhere forest road when we approached a bear just chilling, once it saw our car it immediately ran … [Read more...]
December 2016 Recap
Happy New Year's Eve everyone!!! Today is the last day of 2016! Can You believe it?! Tomorrow will be the first day of 2017!! How crazy is that?! I started these monthly recaps exactly one year ago today! I started them so that we could review the recipes that I made that month, and so that I could share with you what I was into that month. I have enjoyed the time to slow down and reflect each month. I hope you have found these posts helpful and inspiring. This month - since it's the last day of … [Read more...]

“The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief. But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.” – Hilary Stanton Zunin This post is hard to write, and to be honest I don't know how much of my personal life I should share - but it didn't feel right to go on pretending that nothing has changed in my life since my last post and go on talking about food without sharing my true feelings. Plus, as a writer this is how I have always processed … [Read more...]
