Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 2 to 3 dates, pitted
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (can make your own or use store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons almond butter (can make your own or use store-bought)
- 3/4 cup frozen sweet cherries
- 1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract (optional, but recommended to achieve yummy almond flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- EXTRAS FOR NUTRITION BOOST (OPTIONAL):
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
- Ice cubes for thickness
- Spinach (this does tend to turn the smoothie an unappealing color)
Instructions
- In a small bowl soak your dates in very hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften them up. Drain them from the water before using.
- To a blender add all of the ingredients. Blend on high until everything is well incorporated. Scrape down sides as needed. Taste and adjust flavors to your liking: add more cinnamon, another date, or a few more cherries.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
