Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie – not to be confused with a shake! This simple, healthy smoothie only requires 6 ingredients. It’s a great addition to your breakfast, as a post-workout smoothie, or for a healthy dessert.
Hi, friends. You know you want a sip of that rich, creamy, chocolate-y, peanut butter-y, banana-y goodness, don’t ya? Seriously, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is so tasty it may fool you into thinking it’s a shake. That trickster! But it’s not; it’s a healthy smoothie containing a little unsweetened almond milk, a lot of frozen bananas for sweetness and creaminess, a little cocoa powder, and some peanut butter. Who doesn’t want that?
The best part about Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is that it is healthy enough, with 7 grams of protein to be part of your breakfast. Chocolate for breakfast is always a good thing. Or you can enjoy it as a snack or even make it when a milk shake craving strikes. I love adding a little salt into the smoothie for a salted taste, especially right after a hard, sweaty run. The peanut butter adds a decent amount of protein and healthy fats, while the chia seeds add extra fiber.
Summers, man, they’re amazing – long, warm days filled with hikes, walks in the park, pool parties, picnics, grilling out, vacations, reading, visiting friends and family, catching up, slowing down, yet trying to do everything because it’s summer! Summertime is my true love, it’s the time of year that I shine; all my favorite activities are in the summer – like my 30th birthday coming up in a few short days! EEEK I’m going to be 30! Ya know what, I’m okay with it, I have a lot to be grateful for. What I do struggle with as I get older is fitting everything into my summer. As summertime approaches I still get that giddy feeling that I always felt on the last day of school every year – a feeling of freedom, possibilities, a sense of adventure. When I was younger summer gave me a break from the huge responsibility that took up most of my time: school. But now as an adult, I continue working full-time each summer and I don’t have that break in responsibility like I used to – but I am thankful that I enjoy what I do. Even though I have been graduated for 7 years (has it really been 7 years?!) I still find myself with that same giddy feeling at the beginning of summer. As I continue that full-time work my responsibilities and commitments seem to increase every year. Friends to visit, weddings, family events, three family vacations with two sides of the family – I mean we have only been home for 1 to 2 weeks in between our three vacations this summer – and when we get home from this latest vacation we will be gone for the next 3 weekends in a row! I’m not complaining, I feel blessed to be able to go on so many vacations and see so many people I love. With mid summer approaching we all should try to remember during this hectic time that we need to slow down, put some time aside to soak in the hot summer air, stay outside all day, enjoy a sunset, and be sure not to let go of that summertime excitement, that sense of adventure and wonder – no matter how many birthdays we have!
Or ya know, you could whip up a Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie to feed your soul and help fuel your body. Because summers should be as sweet and easy as this smoothie is, right?
