The title of this post was almost “devil in her heart”. The tittle of a Beatles song and also the name of this drink that I had at a restaurant here in town. How can a drink with that name not catch your eye?!
Appropriately named for it’s bright red color from the strawberry puree and a hint of spice from Tabasco hot sauce. For anyone who love that spicy sweet combo/fruity drinks this one is for you!
Fruity strawberries make this drink the perfect cocktail for you to sip on all summer long! It would also be a really fun drink to serve for the 4th of July – maybe add some blueberries as a garnish. How cute would that be?
The description on the menu for this devil in her heart drink….I mean spicy strawberry cocktail….had a list of citrus liqueurs, strawberry puree, and vodka. I am not a fan of buying a bunch of liqueurs or alcohols I might only use once or twice. Instead of buying citrus liqueurs I used orange juice instead. A simple and easy swap with similar tasting results.
Don’t worry, I add enough vodka in there to make up for the lack of liqueurs. Balance is key!
Spicy strawberry cocktail ingredients:
- frozen strawberries, thawed and then pureed
- good quality orange juice
- a touch of agave nectar to sweeten things up a bit
- vodka
- a few dashes of Tabasco
- ice cubes
EASY, simple, and so refreshing. Perfect for hanging out at the beach, or on your back porch.
If you’re not into the spicy drinks then you can either omit the Tabasco sauce completely or add 1 or 2 dashes for just a touch of heat. I personally like about 5 to 6 dashes of hot sauce for a medium heat – I really love spicy drinks!
You should see me when we make bloody Mary’s. The spicier the better, in my opinion.

A sweet, spicy, and fruity cocktail. This spicy strawberry cocktail is the perfect afternoon drink – it’s super easy to make. Only requires 10 minutes and 6 ingredients! Summertime cocktail fun!
Ingredients
- 10 ounces (1 1/2 cups) frozen strawberries, defrosted (or use fresh)
- 1/2 cup good quality orange juice
- 1 to 2 tablespoons agave nectar, or to taste
- 1 to 2 shots vodka (use gluten free vodka for GF people)
- 3 to 5 dashes of Tabasco hot sauce (or to taste)
- 2 fresh strawberries, for garnish (if desired)
Instructions
- Blend: Add the defrosted strawberries including any juices to a blender along with the orange juice. Blend on high until smooth. Taste and add 1 to 2 tablesoons of agave nectar – this will depend on how sweet your strawberries happen to be.
- Spice it up: To a cocktail shaker, or a mason jar add 3 to 4 ice cubes along with 1 cup of the strawberry puree, and the vodka and a few dashes of the Tabasco sauce. Shake until it’s well combined and some of the ice has melted. Taste and add more Tabasco sauce, if desired.
- Serve it up: Place a few more ice cubes, or 1 large cocktail ice cube into your serving glasses. Strain the drink, holding back any other ice cubes, into the glass. Garnish with a strawberry, if desired and serve immediately. Repeat with the other half of the strawberry puree – you will get 2 drinks out of this recipe.
