Description

Fresh Moscow Mules are made with fresh ginger juice, a squirt of lime, vodka, agave nectar, and a little sparkling water. They are refreshing, have a spicy gingery bite and are easy to make!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Ginger Juice:
  • 1 cup fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped*
  • 2 tablespoons filtered water
  • For the Moscow Mule:
  • 1 ounce fresh ginger juice
  • 2 teaspoons agave nectar (or more to taste)
  • 1 to 2 ounces gluten free vodka (Tito’s is gluten free)
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Unflavored, unsweetened sparkling water
  • Lime wedges for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. For the Ginger Juice:
  2. Add the ginger and the water to the bowl of your food processor. Process until small bits of ginger remain, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Transfer the ginger to a fine mesh sieve that’s been placed over a bowl or liquid measuring cup. Use a spatula to press as much ginger juice through the sieve as possible. Reserve the ginger pulp, which has a lot of flavor, for smoothies or baking, or discard it.
  4. For the Moscow Mule:
  5. To a cocktail glass add 1 ounce of the fresh ginger juice, the agave nectar, vodka, and lime juice. Stir to combine.
  6. Add ice and top the drink off with the sparkling water. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
  7. Repeat these steps for as many cocktails as you are making.

Notes

*1 cup fresh ginger will make 1/2 cup ginger juice. You can scale this amount depending on how many drinks you plan to make.

Also, if you have any juice leftover, you can use it in smoothies. You can also use the pulp in smoothies.
