Description

Green Lime Smoothie Bowl is a refreshing, delicious way to get your greens in. It’s creamy, slightly sweet, and tangy.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened dairy free milk (I like almond milk)
  • Zest of 1/2 lime
  • Juice of 1 1/2 limes
  • 2 large handfuls spinach
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 1/2 cups previously sliced and frozen bananas
  • SUGGESTIONS FOR TOPPINGS:
  • Granola
  • Coconut flakes
  • Slivered almonds
  • Cherries, raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries
  • Cacao nibs
  • Chia seeds
  • Any other kind of nuts or seeds

Instructions

  1. If you are using a high speed blender you may be able to add all of the ingredients and blend until smooth, about 1 minute.
  2. If you are not using a high speed blender add the milk, lime zest, lime juice, and spinach to the blender. Blend on high until no more chunks of spinach remain.
  3. Add about 1/4 cup of the frozen fruit and blend on high until well incorporated. Then add another 1/4 cup of fruit and blend until the fruit is well blended. Repeat this process until all of the fruit you are going to use has been well blended. If it gets stuck, turn off the blender and use the back of a wooden spoon to help push everything down, then blend again. Resist the urge to add more liquid; otherwise the smoothie will become too runny and you won’t be able to eat it with a spoon.
  4. Transfer the smoothie to 2 small bowls, or one large bowl and top it with as many or as few toppings as desired (suggestions listed above). Serve immediately.
