Description

Strawberry and Arugula Sangria is perfectly fruity with a hint of pepper from the arugula.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 bottle dry red wine, such as Merlot
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (about 1/2 of an orange)
  • 2 cups fresh arugula
  • 1/2 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced


Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher stir together the wine, brandy, orange juice, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the Arugula and muddle with a large wooden spoon.
  3. Add the strawberries, oranges, lime, and lemon and stir until all of the fruit is well mixed into the wine.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours. Strain the sangria and serve chilled. Garnish with fruit or arugula, if desired.
